For most people, finding out you need to report to your company's corporate office upon arrival for your shift might bring about a feeling of worry, fear or panic. Well at TopGolf we don't follow the traditional routine so reporting to the TopGolf Home Office tends to stir feelings of excitement and curiosity. Let me paint the picture½you walk in to find 2 sets of Baggo ready to be played along with a snack-stocked kitchen AND kegerator½oh, and a few desks and offices too).
This past Friday a select group of TopGolf team members were assembled for our "valued opinions, palates and varying years under the age of 50" by Mark Boyton, our Director of Food & Beverage. We formed a jumbled somewhat circle around piles of paperwork and a seemingly endless stock of various wines. The group was then lead on a tasting trail throughout a mix of wine regions across the world through an assortment of inexpensive to pricey bottles of vino. The plastic cups began to stack up and palates were cleansed with the finest of cold french fries. Each wine was given a score out of 10 and tasting notes ranging from 'sweet yet bold complex flavor' to 'boring and dirty tasting.' Then, given an average score and the top performers will make it to Round 2 of many more intense tastings before they'll earn the spot on the roster at TopGolf's fine drink lists across the country.
From the hard to pronounce to the hard to forget, the tasting will undoubtedly bring some refreshing new choices to the menu in our near future! It's a tough job, but hey½someone's gotta do it!
