"I'm Doug Huffman and I win Fantasy Football Leagues (and by "leagues" I mean 12 person, non-auto draft, strict trading policies, and penalties for not setting rosters). I log in countless hours at a barstool pouring over statistics, injury reports, sleeper profiles, team schedules, and I check the waiver wire more than I check my work email. I'm pretty sure my wife retaliates by spending the same amount of time at Nordstrom.
Here is some unsolicited advice on how to have a successful and fun Fantasy season:
- Don't draft a quarterback in the first round. The NFL is still a running back league; I don't care how hunky Aaron Rodgers is.
- Use the "smack boards"; it's no fun to win if you're not trying to humiliate your friends and coworkers in the process.
- Throw an awesome draft party; it'll be the highlight of the season.
Last year we had our fantasy football draft at TopGolf Allen; best draft we've had since 2008 (which we had in Vegas). TopGolf provided all the necessities: private room, food, unlimited booze, internet with big screen TV, and we got free TopGolf afterward; its perfect opportunity to re-evaluate your draft selections with you buddies while someone in the group is shanking a 7 iron.
If you're in search of a unique destination for your Fantasy Football Draft, I'd recommend contacting TopGolf."
Editor's Note - Doug is an avid TopGolfer. He credits his Fantasy Football success to the other guys in his league drinking too much during last year's draft (one guy insisted on drafting Emmitt Smith, twice). He always aims for the blue target.
