When we announced that TopGolf's 12th location would also be our first facility on Native American lands, we wanted to commemorate the milestone occasion in a special way. For weeks, we collaborated with leaders from Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community (SRPMIC), The Alter Group (TopGolf's landlord and a major Scottsdale developer) and ARCO/Murray, our amazing construction partner, to plan a groundbreaking ceremony that would help unite all of those working on the new TopGolf facility with the local community. Now, I know what you're probably thinking. An outdoor groundbreaking ceremony...in Arizona...in JULY?!?! Are we crazy?
Yes, we might be a little crazy. But our team was so excited about this new location that a little heat wasn't going to stop us from celebrating. And we weren't the only ones! The tent was packed with local residents who turned up to show their support. After hearing remarks from TopGolf and SRPMIC President Diane Enos and Vice President Martin Harvier, we were treated to a blessing, songs and dances by the community's traditional singers. A video clip is below:
The final dance got EVERYONE out of their seats. We held hands and danced together in a circle then bid each other farewells with handshakes until we can meet again.
We are so honored to partner with the SRPMIC and all of the wonderful people of Scottsdale to open TopGolf at Riverwalk. Springtime can't come soon enough!
