Working for TopGolf is like a dream come true. Not only do I get to work for an innovative and growing company, but I have the opportunity to lend a hand in the community that I call my second home -- Dallas, Texas. During a normal work week, each location receives anywhere from 10-20 donation inquiries through our charitable donations page online. As a site, we try to get involved with our local hospitals, food banks, chambers and schools to ensure everyone feels the love. When I think about community involvement, two events pop into my head. Working with a Children's Medical Center teen event and donating time to the North Texas Food Bank.
Aug. 22, 2013: TopGolf Dallas had the opportunity to host an End-of-Summer Party for teens from The Pauline Allen Gill Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders, which is a department within Children's Medical Center. Once they arrived, we were able to show everyone what TopGolf is all about -- having fun and enjoying the experience. Each teen patient who attended the event was either currently on or previously had been on treatment for cancer. This outing encouraged the teens to speak freely about their journey to others that have been or are in their shoes. Alongside their Child Life Specialists and new TopGolf friends, the teens hit some balls, watched a video provided by Children's Medical Center, and enjoyed exceptional food selected by our chefs.
We are lucky to be able to host events and give donations, but one of the biggest gifts a person or business can give is time and hard work. On Sept. 14, 2013, volunteers from TopGolf's home office, Allen and Dallas locations joined together to sort food for families at the North Texas Food Bank. This Dallas nonprofit organization distributes donated, prepared and purchased foods to families through more than 250 Partner Agencies. Our main mission was to take the pile of unsorted boxes of food, throw away anything that we thought was unworthy of consumption, sort the foods into categories, and repackage them. After three hours of working alongside other businesses in the area, we helped prepare more than 7,000 meals for families in need.
Working for TopGolf, my co-workers and I have the opportunity to answer charitable donation inquiries and work with companies like Children's Medical Center and North Texas Food Bank. For that, I am forever thankful. On behalf of TopGolf, we would like to personally thank everyone for contacting us to be a part of your cause and community. If you are looking to get involved in your community, follow these three easy steps. Pick something you are passionate about, do research on organizations you could get involved with in the area, and make it happen. Be a blessing in your community, and lend a hand to someone in need.
