Employee, Worker, Staff Member; we have all heard these terms when describing a company’s workforce. In my opinion, they take away from someone’s independence and connection with his or her culture. Here at Topgolf, we have Associates. They are Associates of our brand and our culture. They are highly included in company decisions and treated with the utmost respect. At Topgolf, we invest in our people; they are the most important aspect of our business. Without their heart, drive, enthusiasm, personality and overall love for their job, we wouldn’t be successful.

The Topgolf experience starts from the moment someone interacts with our Topgolf Associates. They are bright, welcoming, fun and knowledgeable. Our Associates are our ambassadors of fun, and our hiring process embodies these traits and values. When looking for new Associates, we host recruitment events. They are unlike any other job interview you have ever experienced….literally.

During a Topgolf Recruitment Event, our goal is to break everyone out of their shell and really get to know them. We invite them to participate in a series of activities to see what strengths and opportunities shine through and where we see these individuals fitting within our Topgolf Associate teams.

I experienced my first recruitment event last month, and it blew me away. This process is one that other companies need to adopt. An interview, in general, is a 20-30 minute timeframe where it’s difficult for an employer and a candidate to really get to know each other. Having an opportunity to really interact with candidates for 3+ hours allows for us to really dig deep and take the time to get to know who our potential Associates are, and we take the time to share our culture with them as well. We hire based on our Core Values, and our hiring event is truly unique and valuable to our overall brand. It shows our commitment to finding the right Associates in the most fun environment.

I had the pleasure of being one of the interviewers. I got to speak with many different potential candidates. One is a ballroom dancer, so I expect to learn great things from him! One is a part-time sky dive instructor who has completed thousands of dives (can you say FUN?!). One woman is practicing to become a veterinarian. Every potential Associate had such an interesting background that I really got to learn a lot about each and every one of them.

If you haven’t had the chance to interact with a Topgolf Associate, I HIGHLY recommend you take the time to come in and get to know some. They are truly one-of- a-kind, and they have made Topgolf what it is today!
