As an ode to the recent celebration of Mother’s Day, we at Topgolf San Antonio wanted to share the spotlight of our very own pair of Chef sisters! These two ladies of the Topgolf kitchen were blessed with culinary talent and have been able to master their craft with Topgolf’s secret recipes, run a team of kitchen Associates and execute delicious catering menus for 200-person events.
This sister team loves to spend time together, so much that they decided to work with each other every day. Believe it or not, they are 10 years apart!
Sous Chef Nicole Sherwood, 28, and her sister, Events Catering Chef Natalie Rendon, 38.
“I have always admired my sister’s strength and confidence, it definitely shows when she is in her element in the kitchen.” – Chef Nicole
“She [Nicole] played a significant role in my decision to join the Topgolf team. She exemplifies discipline, resilience and integrity, all of which make me very proud.” – Chef Natalie
Since they can remember, these two girls began their chef quest like most do, watching their very own mother cook up family recipe after recipe. Their transition from becoming a home cook to a professional chef was sparked when Nicole enrolled in culinary school and Natalie decided to follow her little sister and hop on for the ride. Together they learned all the basics, but the two sisters were always very independent of each other and decided to go in very different career paths. Natalie first went on to gain experience at a local resort kitchen, where she had the opportunity to work for another female culinary leader. Meanwhile, Nicole had found her home at Topgolf Austin and began making tasty creations behind the tee line as a Kitchen Manager.
Two years after joining Topgolf, Chef Nicole was promoted to Sous Chef of Topgolf San Antonio. With little convincing, Chef Natalie decided to join her little sister in preparation for the grand opening. This ROCKSTAR sister team has been pivotal in making magic happen in the Topgolf San Antonio kitchen!
Before joining Topgolf, these two strong and self-determined women found themselves as one of few female leaders in their kitchen environments. When they joined Topgolf and met National Director of Culinary Operations Seve Delgado, they were both impressed and excited.
“It was so refreshing to see a woman with so much authority and respect in a kitchen. I feel very grateful to have been able to work and learn from her [Seve]. I hope to work more closely and learn even more from her in the future,” said Chef Nicole.
Chef Natalie agrees, “It is gratifying to see that Topgolf has such talented female leaders.”
We are so proud to have Nicole and Natalie on board! They put their hearts, souls and lots of love into our delicious food. EXCELLENCE is one of Topgolf’s Core Values, and these two sisters definitely take the Topgolf kitchen to another level with their extreme attention to detail.
