It is no secret that we like to throw some epic parties at Topgolf! It is also no secret that we are an entertainment complex that features a high-tech golf game breathing new life into what some are considering a dying sport. So here in Austin where we keep things at Topgolf weird, we thought, “Why not combine the two?”
What did we do, you might ask? We hosted the throwdown of the year, the melee to be known, the scuffle not to ignore – THE Battle of the Bars! Enticed? Understandably so.
Why did we do it? Last year in Austin, we decided to have a night dedicated to all our fellow home fries in the service industry. On Sundays, we feature buy one hour, get one free of Topgolf, tasty discounted cocktails and a live DJ! This has become a popular time for service industry folks to come out loosen up their buttons and have a little fun.
Something that we noticed several months into the promotion is that groups from different bars would start mingling from bay to bay, and that’s when the idea was born, that we, along with Avery Ranch Golf Course, would host a two-day golf tournament known as Battle of the Bars! We worked with our current Service Industry Night sponsors at Jagermeister, Deep Eddy Vodka, Miller Lite and Red Bull to come up with some awesome prizes, and voila! We were set.
We had 30 anxious teams show up ready and raring to go on Sunday, Aug. 3, to represent their Home Turf. Cornhole was played, beverages were flowing, three different games of Topgolf were played, and the party carried on late into the evening. We could see that the competition was stiff, but that didn’t keep our industry folks from having a little fun. The next day at Avery Ranch, the group played a traditional 18-hole scramble game.
Topgolf’s youngest team walked away the victors! As industry folks, they qualified and were so excited as it came down to a mere two strokes between themand second place!
We can’t wait to have the tournament again next year! ‘Til you hear the next war cry!
