Once again, I’ve not been a very good student. Partly because of the weather, partly because of laziness and partly because I managed to break my 5th metatarsal and couldn’t walk for about 8 weeks (which was the first time I’ve ever had anything in common with Neymar). I hadn’t really practiced at all since my last blog , so the same issues were still apparent with my swing. I still have a horrible slice.
As the weather improved, and my foot healed I wanted to start up these lessons again to try and prepare me for some summer rounds of golf. Yes, I am a fair weather golfer, but I’m ok with that. I spoke with our new head pro at Watford – Matt Masters, who kindly agreed to give me some tips. We recorded the key bits of the lesson and you can watch this below:
I’ve been working hard since this lesson with Matt. My family think I’m going slightly mad as I keep practicing the drill that Matt demonstrated at the end at home, and it does look very bizarre. However I can see the change in my swing and it seems to be working! All I need to do now is actually practice a bit, and maybe I’ll be able to play a full 18 without going 30+ over?
I’ve also been spending a lot of time watching the other Topgolf Coaching videos we’ve put out. There are some really great tips available from our PGA qualified coaches, all for free on our YouTube channel.
As ever you can book lessons with any of our coaches online.
